Connect your channels
Pyre.Chat does everything as you. It reads chat with your platform account and it acts with your platform account, which is why connecting a platform is the first thing you do and not an optional extra.
Connect a platform
Section titled “Connect a platform”There are two ways in, and they do the same thing.
From the connect panel, at the bottom of the page. Each platform row carries its own Sign in link, right next to that platform’s Channels menu. This is the shortest path, and it is where an empty Pyre.Chat points you.
From Settings, under Platform Accounts. This is the view that shows state: every platform is listed, an unconnected one reads Not connected, and a stale authorization offers Re-auth. Go here when you want to check what is connected rather than connect something new.
-
Choose Sign in on the platform’s connect row, or Authenticate on its row in Settings. Pyre sends you to that platform’s own login page. Pyre never sees your platform password.
-
Approve the permissions. Pyre asks for what it needs in one request rather than returning to interrupt you later.
Once a platform is connected, its Channels menu fills with the channels you can add, and the add row at the bottom of that menu lets you type any other one.
TikTok’s row has no Sign in link at all, because TikTok needs no account. It also gets you nothing but reading: see below.
Acting as you
Section titled “Acting as you”Sending a message, deleting one, timing a viewer out or banning them are things your account does. Your powers in Pyre are exactly the powers you already hold on that platform. Connecting Pyre does not grant you anything new, and it cannot.
What Pyre.Chat offers you, per platform, is this and nothing more:
| Action | Twitch | YouTube | Kick | TikTok |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Read chat | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Send a message | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Delete a message | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Time out | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Ban | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
That is the whole surface. Pyre.Chat has no unban, no VIP or moderator changes, no slow mode, no followers-only and no clear chat: those are channel-level controls and they live in Pyre.Stream, on your own channel’s chat. If you need one for a channel you moderate but do not own, use that platform’s own moderation view.
A ban reason is a Twitch-only field, because only Twitch records one. Pyre.Chat sends no reason with a ban.
When you ask for something a platform does not offer, Pyre answers in as many words:
<action> is not supported on <platform>.
Moderate from the feed covers the menu, the keyboard shortcuts and what confirms an action actually landed.
Moderator access follows the platform
Section titled “Moderator access follows the platform”Twitch tells Pyre which channels you moderate, and Pyre keeps that in sync, so the channels you mod appear in your Twitch Channels menu without you doing anything.
YouTube and Kick have no such list. Neither platform offers an API that says which channels a given account moderates, so Pyre cannot discover them. Kick’s Channels menu comes pre-filled with your own Kick channel and nothing else. Add the rest yourself, and the platform decides at the moment you act whether your action is allowed.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- A channel shows no messages. Confirm the channel name, and that the channel is live or has chat enabled. On YouTube a live chat only exists once the broadcast is actually running, so a YouTube channel cannot be connected until it goes live.
- Your actions stop working and you see a session expired message. Your authorization has expired, or you revoked Pyre’s access on the platform. Open Settings, find the platform under Platform Accounts, and choose Re-auth.
- An action reports that it is not supported. Check the table above. Pyre.Chat offers delete, timeout and ban and nothing beyond them, and it says so instead of failing quietly.
- A moderation action on a TikTok message appears to work. It did not. See the note above: TikTok’s delete and ban are no-ops that report success.
- You see a channel you did not add. Connections and saved channels are per account. Check you are signed in as the account you expect.
- Kick shows only your own channel to pick from. Kick’s API does not expose the channels you moderate or follow, so on Kick you add channels by slug.
